I Could Totally Live In… Vernazza, Italy...

Jan 19, 2013 by

Today’s post comes from Ashley of A & B C the World. Her blog has quickly become one of my favourite blogs out there. She always has beautiful stories and showcases lovely and unique places to visit all over the world. Her selection for today’s post takes us back to Italy, and I don’t think I could ever get enough of Italy, despite having only been once. So let’s go back, this time to Vernazza, located in the Cinque Terre, on the rugged portion of the “Italian Riviera.” It’s a place that stole a piece of Ashley’s heart, and a place that I apparently have to visit one day. To Vernazza! What makes Vernazza a place where you could live and not just visit? I could live in Vernazza because of the location alone. It is...

I Could Totally Live In… Gagnano, Italy...

Dec 9, 2012 by

I recently connected with Shivya through the blogosphere, and she writes charming stories and recounts her travel tales over at The Shooting Star. She is incredibly kind and was more than willing to participate in this feature I’m working on, where I explore places that are not only special to us travellers, but that are also places we could call home. I visited Italy in 2005, and I loved it. Shivya took to a particular small Italian village by Lake Garda, Gargnano. Let’s find out why… What makes Gagnano a place where you could live and not just visit?   It was love at first sight with Gargnano; the slow pace of life in the village was infectious, the food was delicious, and it was postcard pretty. I lived in an apartment there for 4...

I Could Totally Live In… Tokyo, Japan...

Nov 21, 2012 by

Today’s post comes from one of my more recent blogging friends, Emy. She is a sweet French girl who has a  deep love for Japan. I’m obsessed with these gorgeous photos she’s allowed me to share! And as Japan is a place I have never been but wish very much to see, I was elated when Emy chose to write about Japan. As a side note, when I wrote about not being crazy for Paris a little while ago, she offered to be my personal tour guide the next time I visit to make sure I leave liking the city. I’m pretty sure I’d be happy sitting in a cafe with her for hours on end, but if she’d like to show me around as well, I will definitely take her up on that....

I Could Totally Live In… Salzburg, Austria...

Nov 5, 2012 by

When I stumbled upon Alex Kay‘s website, Memographer, I quickly found myself mesmerized by the spectacular photography capturing places with vibrancy, animation, life, joy and colour. I began checking and rechecking the website for new photos. I was ecstatic when Alex agreed to participate in my new feature, I Could Totally Live There. I was particularly jubilant when I saw the photos that came with the post. I hope you like them as much as I do. Today, we go to Salzburg. *** What makes Salzburg a place where you could live and not just visit?   I always wanted to live in Europe. The life style in a European city is totally different from the US. I want to walk, ride a bike, use public transportation, visit theaters and museums, and have “organic...

I Could Totally Live In… Rio de Janeiro...

Oct 26, 2012 by

Everynow and then, we end up in a place that speaks to us, a place that makes us feel something we haven’t felt before, a place that makes us feel whole again, and sometimes, it’s like the rhythms in that place are perfectly in tandem with our own internal rhythms. Or sometimes it’s a place that just really makes us want to settle into a little apartment and buy groceries every Tuesday night. In this new feature, I Could Totally Live There… I’m exploring this idea of living somewhere. What makes a place feel liveable? Why is it not only worth visiting but also a place to grow roots for a while? Today’s feature comes from my friend Audrey, and for her, it’s Rio de Janeiro that stole a piece of her heart… let’s...
