Lomo Goes To California

Feb 25, 2013 by

It has been a while since I’ve posted photos that I’ve taken with my Lomography camera, my Diana Mini. I bought it in Madrid in 2011, and I have had loads of fun playing with it and waiting for the photos to come back, curious of what I’ve captured (and how I’ve captured it). That’s the whole fun with a Lomo: you’re just never sure of what the picture is going to look like. The following are photos from my trip to California last summer. I spent time in San Francisco, Sacramento, Stockton, Yosemite, and the Lake Tahoe area, hiking and camping. I had a great time; the highlights of the trip were catching up with my dear friend Kathy, who I met on Easter Island, my friend Sara, who I met in Scandinavia...

Lomo Goes To Brenna’s

Jul 26, 2012 by

Brenna¬†posted these photos that I took with my Lomography camera to her blog in a post about technology and how we crave different ways of capturing our adventures on the road. I had a different idea in my head when I took these photos, just that I was lucky to spend a few evenings with the effervescent and ever-roaming Brenna while she was ‘home’ for a while, but a few short months. Right now, I am enjoying her adventures through Central and South America, so you should definitely check her blog on a regular basis for wonderful tales of adventure and exploration, and if we’re lucky, maybe even some beautiful men. After all, that part of the world is crawling with mocha and caramel-skinned hotties with sparkling eyes.¬† I particularly like (and relate to)...

Lomo Goes to Lisbon

May 23, 2012 by

Lisbon, Portugal   I have a very busy few weeks ahead of me, what with the house hunting, the summer reading list I am into, the mountain of writing I’ve taken on, working full time, planning a trip to San Francisco and then actually going to San Francisco. I got a tentative itinerary for my time there from one of my friends who will be ferrying me about, and it will be 8 full days, packed with new sights, steep hills, fresh crab sandwiches, hiking Yosemite, camping (eep!), Kathy, hot hot heat, speaking Spanish, visiting Alcatraz and walking world famous bridges. This is how I love to travel, how I love to live: busy and full, squeezing every last drop out of an experience. The level of adventure in a given trip can easily...

Lomo Goes to a Jets Game

Mar 10, 2012 by

Winnipeg, Canada Over this past Christmas break, I made sure to squeeze every drop out of every day. It included many nights ending at 6:00 am, lots of friends, plenty of delicious food, time outside in the snow, forest walks, cousin time, and of course, hockey hockey hockey. Hockey and nights like the one pictured above. It was a night of shouting and screaming and chanting and double rums with dad and leaping out of our seats and wearing new jerseys and flirting with the bar tender and impressing strangers with my Lomography camera. In the end, we won in overtime, and life was just too sweet to believe. I loved this night and all the memories attached to it. I love what hockey does to people and what it has done to my...

Lomo Goes for Mexican Food in Madrid...

Oct 18, 2011 by

I miss being on the road. Especially with looming midterms. It’s something that happens frequently. I’m sitting in class, and I turn to whichever friend is sitting next to me and the conversation goes like this: Me: Are you here right now? Dave: What do you mean? Am I paying attention? Me: Yeah. Dave: Sort of. Are you? Me: No. I was in South America. Dave: I wasn’t that far away. I think I was in Portage la Prairie. Or today, Lea turns to me and says: “God, that guy asks the stupidest questions.” Me: I wasn’t listening. Lea: They are pointless questions. Me: I was in New York. Lea: Yeah, I was sleeping for a bit. Did you see me? I was in my bath. Interestingly, Lea is usually off in Croatia in...
